How We Help
We integrate a wide range of approaches to support our clients in reaching their goals
We connect people with therapists/dietitians on the team based on specialty or focus, location, scheduling preference, and insurance or fee requests. We meet regularly to collaborate on shared cases, and enhance the quality of each client's experience with us.
- Individual Therapy is helpful for solving problems and encouraging self-development. We support individuals in discovering their inner resources, enhancing self-esteem and developing new and healthy patterns and solutions to life's challenges.
- Couples Therapy where we use research-based methods and positive support to help couples make genuine and enduring changes and meet their desired goals.
- Family Therapy includes the entire family in the process of healing and growth. We engage family members and other significant loved ones in effort to create a healthy and harmonious family system. Issues often addressed in family therapy sessions include life transitions and changes, addictions, grief and loss, and divorce.
- Group Therapy is a powerful, supportive environment for identifying and overcoming obstacles to living fully. We offer a variety of groups, including groups on teens and women's issues, eating disorders and body image, weight management, and grief recovery.

Areas of Focus
Our combined experience allows us to offer support in the areas of:
Relationships
In relationship work, our goal is to help you find a greater depth of intimacy and connectedness through learning effective communication skills. We focus on helping you develop stronger and healthier interpersonal skills that can lead to more satisfying relationships. Discovering and appreciating the differences that exist between individuals is a fundamental part of the therapy process. back to top
Eating Disorders
Many of our clients have struggled with issues of eating and body image disturbance. These concerns may be manifested through Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder or Compulsive Overeating. Each licensed therapist and registered dietitian has a deep interest and advanced education, training and experience in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders. We share a belief in the empowerment of girls and women as well as boys and men to reclaim the joy and energy of a satisfying life.

We explore the physical, nutritional, psychological and interpersonal aspects of the development of the individual's eating disorder history.
-
We collaborate with our clients and their families to establish a comprehensive approach to healing, assessing effectiveness along the way.
-
We provide a comprehensive, integrated approach tailored to the needs and circumstances of each individual.
-
We offer individual and family therapy, age-matched groups, nutritional counseling and expressive arts therapies.
-
We meet regularly and confer often to coordinate the various aspects of each client's progress toward healing.
Our connections to the larger community...

Women's Issues
Working with women's issues is one of our specialties. Areas covered typically include identifying ones own action plan, changing patterns which lead to feeling depressed and "stuck", creative strategies for enhancing well being and handling anxiety, and stress management planning. In addition, improving decision making, increasing confidence and self respect, increasing effective communication, managing conflict resolution and feelings, and moving on from disappointment and loss are issues dealt with. Our therapists are skilled at creating safe environments with which to learn the above, including healthy risk-taking and actual self nurturing. One of the ways to do this is by listening and learning from the experiences of other women in group settings. back to top
Trauma and Violence
Unfortunately traumatic and violent events effect many of us and those who we care about. Psychological trauma may occur after many stressful life events such as loss of a loved one, divorce, infertility, substance abuse, military service, child abuse and victims of violence in all of its forms. Many victims of trauma and violence acquire psychological symptoms such as anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, insomnia, substance abuse and poor self-care. We are dedicated to the comprehensive and compassionate care of those who have experienced trauma and we strongly believe in the benefits of psychotherapy as a means to move toward a sense of security and emotional health. We use a variety of treatment modalities to improve feelings of control and decrease maladaptive coping patterns and behaviors. We are also well-informed regarding community resources and have extensive collaborative experience working with medical professionals who specialized in treatment of psychological trauma. back to top
Depression and Anxiety
We believe that a safe environment is necessary in the process of growth, healing and self-discovery. When working with depression and /or anxiety, various techniques are used whereby you and your therapist work together to inspire positive changes. Some of these different modalities may include cognitive-behavioral, holistic and creative art therapy techniques. With Cognitive Therapy, you will be supported in gaining a clearer understanding of how negative-thinking patterns can develop and lead to undesirable behaviors and feeling states. Our goal is to provide support, guidance and empower you to find your strengths, reach your goals, and live your life free of intrusive depression and anxiety states. back to top
Substance Abuse
Substance abuse disorders cause tremendous pain and suffering for individuals and their families. We have an empathic appreciation for the complexity of addiction and recovery. Addiction is a multi-determined disorder requiring a comprehensive treatment approach. Medical, behavioral and psychological treatment is prioritized and integrated to meet the needs of each individual. We coordinate care with residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, self help groups, psychiatrists and other treating professionals. back to top
Nutrition and Exercise Counseling
We begin with an assessment of your nutritional needs to help you achieve balance in your eating. We will support you in establishing more healthful eating behaviors and patterns using a non-dieting approach, and explore opportunities for joyful movement. By integrating healthful nutrition and exercise practices we hope that you find peace and satisfaction in the way that you experience your body. You may find that a series of sessions will help you to more successfully reach and maintain your personal health goals. back to top
Focusing
Focusing is a skill that increases awareness of the mind/body connection. Focusing is based on the philosophy that we all have the capacity within to heal ourselves. In focusing, individuals develop an advanced attunement to body sensations and their meanings, using compassionate, non-judgmental attention. It is this specific attention to inner experience that is the key to healing. back to top
Assertiveness Training
Assertiveness involves expressing your needs in a manner that respects yourself and others. In an individual or group format you will learn strategies to express your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs in a direct and honest manner. You will be supported in first identifying your needs, then learning effective communication skills in order to express those needs. Techniques for avoiding manipulation and defensiveness will also be taught. You will come away with a better sense of setting limits and boundaries, and learn to say "No" without feeling guilty. back to top
Anger Management
Anger limits one's potential to enjoy a fulfilling life and maintain rewarding interpersonal relationships. Anger management training begins with gaining a better understanding of what triggers your anger. You will be supported in identifying and modifying the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that lead to destructive anger. You will develop new skills and strategies to reduce anger and better express yourself. The goal of therapy involves learning to view anger as a valuable and healthy emotion versus something to fear. back to top
